Product description

The 12V EmeryAllen MR16 retrofit lamp is an energy efficient alternative to 12V halogen MR16 lamps. It is suitable for use in most 12V GU5.3 MR16 fixtures.

  • The 1.0W bulb offers similar light output to a 12V, 10W halogen (75-125lm)
  • The 3.0W bulb offers similar light output to a 12V, 20W halogen (275-300lm)
  • The 5.0W bulb offers similar light output to a 12V, 35W halogen (300-450lm)
  • The 7.0W bulb offers similar light output to a 12V, 50W halogen (450-550lm)

Its long life (36,000hrs = >10x standard bulbs) is ideal for track lighting, pendants, ceiling fixtures, and outdoor lighting applications.

Available in 2700K and 3000K with 15, 24, 36, 60 and 120 beam spreads, and 4000K and 5700K for the 5.0 and 7.0W 60 and 120 beam spreads.

Brief history:

Conventionally, the MR16 bulb was a halogen lamp filled with a mixture of halogen and inert gas that gave the lamp superior longevity over other standard bulbs. By comparison, the MR16 provides compact and powerful lighting.

The MR in their name stands for multifaceted reflector. This refers to the angular facets surrounding the filament in conventional bulbs. These facets were covered by a highly reflective coating, providing powerful lighting and precise beam spread.

The 16 in MR16 refers to the size of the bulb being 16/8 inches (51mm), with other common sizes including MR8, MR11, MR13, MR14, and MR18.

How they're used:

MR16 bulbs see wide use in a variety of lighting applications. Many 12-volt fixtures have been designed to utilize MR16 bulbs with their distinctive two-pin bases. While they see some niche applications as diverse as bicycle headlights to slide projectors, they're most frequently found in designer lighting fixtures that fall under several common uses such as track lighting, task/desk lighting, pendants, and landscape lighting.

Why you want them:

Our LED MR16 retrofit bulbs are more efficient, versatile, and last longer than conventional halogen MR16 bulbs which operate at incredibly high temperatures and can cause severe burns with direct contact. Our MR16 bulbs eliminate this issue by operating at low temperatures.

EmeryAllen bulbs are compatible with most magnetic and electronic LED-compatible transformers, along with most MLV and ELV dimmers.

When you choose an MR16 from EmeryAllen, you'll save considerable energy compared to conventional halogen bulbs. More than that, you'll also get as much as ten times the expected life from our bulbs. There is no compromise in the compact size, versatility, and superior light output that you expect from an EmeryAllen bulb.
